Cabo Rico Yachts is in the midst of designing a spacious mid fifties sailing yacht which will become the largest yacht in our range of ultimate bluewater cruisers. Her naval architecture by Chuck Paine, is similar in most respects to the Cabo Rico 42, including a safe and strong fuller keel design unique to the Paine Cabo Rico’s. This also allows for modest draft, est. 6’6”, and our well proven balanced full flow, yet keel supported, rudder. Interior accommodations will be for either two large or three smaller sleeping cabins, an exceptionally large main salon, two heads and a dedicated shower room with wet locker.

Flared forward sections, a deep vee shaped forefoot, and a long keel that enhances directional stability, make this the perfect long distance thoroughbred.

As of this writing the lines are complete and work continues on the standard interior and construction details. With a displacement/length ratio of 298 this is clearly a large, powerful hull capable of accommodating far greater tankage of both fuel and water than the average “production” yacht. The motion of the hull at sea will be exceptionally comfortable, even at top speeds. Being a heavier than average yacht, with both a powerful engine and a powerful sailplan, the character of this yacht can reasonably be compared with a Mercedes Benz as opposed to the common automobile. It will take a little longer to get her up to speed, but once there, she will blow by most anything her size with the passengers riding in style and safety.

Owing to her traditional “sea shaped” sections, the hull will tend to part the seas rather than trying to plane over them. Vee shaped deadrise also permits all of the heavy weights to be placed beneath the cabin sole, well below the waterline, resulting in a remarkably low center of gravity and consequent level sailing angles. With all tanks beneath the sole, no tanks need intrude into usable stowage areas beneath seats or berths, vastly increasing the amount of usable stowage in this yacht.

The first two yachts are now sold and under construction, each with custom interiors- a luxury which the semi-custom techniques employed at Cabo Rico make possible without significant added expense. Inquiries for the third and subsequent sisterships are invited, their owners assured that they will enjoy access to a well proven Cabo Rico hull from Chuck Paine, one of the world’s most respected and successful designers, constructed and finished to the superb standard for which Cabo Rico is famous, as can be easily verified by inspection of any of our modern Cabo Rico yachts.
