June 2003 The anchor stem fitting:
One of the many advantages of Cabo Ricos famous clipper bow, is the ability to carry two anchors that can be readily deployed. This shape also allows the skipper to use the anchors with little or no possibility of their getting dings in the top side in rougher weather. Each anchor is locked in place when up, and when deployed, the rode runs safely over rollers.
All Cabo Ricos use stainless steel plate to prevent chafe and abrasion to the top of the bowsprit. On the new Cabo 56, the system used is quite massive and complicated to build, but it has a significant advantage.
Deep channels have been created to significantly lower the chains access to the foredeck. This means that the windlass, or in this case, windlasses, can be right on the deck where they are strongest, instead of up on tall pads and the higher lateral loads that can create. The chain is also well guarded from damaging the teak top on the sprit, and it is held captive right forward and over the rollers.
The head of the stem fitting carries the chain plate for the special furling cruising sail that comes standard on the Cabo Rico 56, our first triple headsail rig!
